he convenience of a quick walk to stock up at Zabar's, Fairway, Citarella or Balducci's is immeasurable, and is envied by many of the area residents' more geographically challenged friends and acquaintances. So, too, is the easy access to many of the less famous, but just as rewarding other local treasures that have been providing an array of goods and services to generations of neighborhood residents.
At the other end of the consuming spectrum is the Broadway corridor of upscale local and national shopping, from the giant Tower Records, Barnes & Noble Superstore and flagship Victoria's Secret stores, to Banana Republic, The Gap, Pottery Barn, Gracious Home, Ann Taylor, Circuit City and Filene's Basement. And in the middle of all that, just two blocks from Lincoln Towers, is the Loews Theatre multiplex, with 12 screens and its giant IMAX theater, the largest grossing multiplex in the country. If that's too far or you're willing to wait a few weeks to see the next "Gone With the Wind", a most convenient Blockbuster is even closer - directly across the street.
